BROOKLYN, N.Y. – An investigation is underway this morning after video surfaces of a group of NYPD officers trying to rip a year-old child out of its mother’s arms as they tried to arrest her.
Police say the woman has been identified as Jazmine Headly, 23, of Brooklyn.
The incident happened at a social services center located at 275 Bergen Street in Boreum Hill on Friday.
The woman who shot the video says Headly was confronted by security when she sat on the floor because of the lack of chairs.
Investigators say police officers from the 84th precinct were called when Headley refused to leave.
She now faces several charges including resisting arrest, acting in a manner injurious to a child, and criminal trespass.
The woman also had a bench warrant out for her arrest in New Jersey for a misdemeanor credit card crime.
The NYPD calls the video “troubling” and the event is now under review.
