DeKalb County, GA (WEAR-TV) —
The U.S. Marshals is currently searching for Richard V. Merritt, a disbarred attorney who wanted for murdering his mother in DeKalb County, Georgia.
According the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Merritt was being monitored by law enforcement via an ankle monitor and was scheduled to surrender himself on February. 1 after being sentenced to 30 years in jail in Cobb County.
The U.S. Marshals tell us Merritt was convicted of stealing money from his clients and elder abuse.
The report revealed Merritt’s elderly mother was “violently killed” on February 2, and her car was reported missing; however, Merritt’s vehicle was recovered at the scene.
U.S. Marshals report Merritt may be driving a 2009 silver Lexus RX350 with a Georgia tag listed as CBV6004.
Merritt may have a shaved head or possibly changed his appearance, according to U.S. Marshals.
