BRIAN Laundrie’s Pinterest account featured strange illustrations of skulls and bones along with other “bleak” images.
The 23-year-old’s account with more than 10,000 followers was last updated in August, the same month where he and fiancée Gabby Petito were on their ill-fated cross-country trip.
Laundrie, whose partial remains were found at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, near the Carlton Reserve, on October 20, appeared to draw inspiration for his art from morbid imagery of skeletons and eyeballs.
One picture showed a stitch of a woman covered in leaves and holding a skull.
Another showed to skeletal hands reaching for a knife.
One was an enamel pin of a skeleton in a coffin with the message: “Like was OK”
Laundrie’s personal items including a backpack and notebook were found near his remains, officials say.
Many believe the notebook to hold crucial evidence on Laundrie’s state of mind near the end of his life.
Criminologist Casey Jordan said a notebook “pointed to the possibility” of a suicide note, 7News reports. However, the contents of the notebook are still a mystery.
Jordan told CNN: “That really raises the question if indeed this is Brian Laundrie and if he died by his own hand, did he take the time out to write out a note of explanation, maybe even regret?
An autopsy on Laundrie’s remains was inconclusive and is now being sent to an anthropologist in an attempt to determine how he died.
Details regarding the condition of the remains have not been disclosed.
