CBS News’ Margaret Brennan said members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet are discussing whether to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would remove Trump from office and make Vice President Mike Pence the commander-in-chief.
Several cabinet members have considered whether to bring the proposal to Pence in order to trigger formal proceedings, according to Brennan.

The news comes after a mob of pro-Trump supporters breached the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday afternoon.
Brennan said the discussion remains in its early stages. There has also been speculation of mass resignation at the White House following Wednesday’s insurrection.
This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
