A group on a messaging platform favored by extremists has posted the home address of the prosecutor in the Kyle Rittenhouse case.
The group, Kenosha Strong Patriots, shows 159 members and shared a post from a user that features a photo of Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger, and lists his home address.
Another person on the service comments, “This is absolutely not an encouragement to violence. Just would be nice to see a peaceful protest outside his home like the left does every time they don’t like something.”
Binger said Friday he is aware of the Telegram posts and has taken steps to protect himself and his family. He did not elaborate.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department said prior to the Nov. 1 start of the trial it had been monitoring and planned to continue monitoring social media about the Rittenhouse case. So far, there has been little physical presence outside the courthouse by protesters either for or against conviction.
Sgt. David Wright said Friday he was not aware of any changes in the security measures in place during the trial, but the department is ready to “act accordingly,” if credible threats emerge.
