Savannah ABC Affiliate WJCL-TV reports two kids, one age 13, the other 2, were among those shot, police told the TV station neither were considered seriously injured.
Police say they were called out to the 200 block of Avery Avenue near Oglethorpe Street near downtown Savannah around 9 p.m. Friday night after reports of shots fired in the area.
That’s where they found multiple people shot. One was reported dead on the scene, two of the victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The shooting incident happened just blocks away from Savannah police headquarters on Habersham Street. Investigators say at this time they have very little information on the shooting or why it happened and do not have any leads on suspects.
The incident drew a response from the city’s Mayor, Van Johnson asking anyone who might have seen or heard anything to come forward.
