The Powerball jackpot for Monday’s lottery drawing has climbed to an estimated $685 million, with a cash option of $485.5 million. If someone wins, it would be at least the eighth-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history and sixth biggest Powerball prize.
The winning numbers were: 66, 12, 22, 54, 69 and the Powerball 15.
The jackpot has rolled over 40 times since a $286 million ticket was sold in Jacksonville, Florida for the June 5 drawing. The prize was claimed by “The Love You More Trust”, which chose a one-time lump sum payment of $196,706,252 before taxes, according to Powerball officials.
While no one across the country hit Saturday’s $651.3 million jackpot, a second-prize, $1 million ticket was sold in Massachusetts.
In New Jersey, five third-prize tickets were bought that matched four numbers plus the Powerball. A ticket bought using the Jackpocket app is worth $100,000 because the winner spent an extra $1 for the Power Play option. The others are valued at $50K apiece. They were purchased at:
- Acme in Port Imperial in West New York
- Woodbridge News in the Woodbridge Center Mall
- 7-Eleven on Maple Avenue in Red Bank
- Kwik Shop on New Brunswick Avenue in Matawan
Saturday’s winning numbers were: 28, 38, 42, 47, 52. The Powerball drawn was 1 with a Power Play of 2x. A second-prize, $1 million ticket was bought in Massachusetts.
In addition, no one hit the secondary $10 million Double Play drawing that followed. Those winning numbers were: 6, 12, 39, 58 and 61. The Double Play Powerball was 22.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 of winning the third prize of at least $50,000.
Powerball is played on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, Washington D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
